DISPATCH ID: #5A41AG43GG48T9-3

- DATE OF ENTRY: HUNDRED AND FOURTY-NINTH ROTATION OF THE STAR OF MEIRAN -

— LOG OF DISPATCH: —

I had to wear a “scarf”today, as the air has gotten very uncomfortable. It is roughly my first full “month”on Earth. On this planet, time is measured in days, weeks, months and years, relative to the Earth’s axis. Similar to us, who use the axis of our planet relative to the stars around us. A “day”is roughly equivalent to 2 rotations of the star of MEIRAN (the star itself looks like it is rotating relative to us, while we are actually the ones rotating), and a year is equivalent to 180 rotations, and so on..

As the stars around TOURAI die, naturally we follow the cycle of another star that takes its place. Currently, we are in the cycle of MEIRAN. It is strange to see another thing “die”. We rarely do such a thing. I wonder what it’s like. I found it interesting to see how we differ in our measurements of time.

Humans are also very different to us in terms of biology. Beings from TOURAI are made from the same substance as our planet, so it is highly unlikely for us to“die”. We simply become one with TOURAI again for a short period of time to rejuvenate ourselves, similar to hibernation, and we reawake again, and continue on as we were before. This process is what we call a “cycle”, which continues on for the rest of time. I wonder how many cycles I’ve gone through now... I can’t remember. But, I’ve heard that sometimes some people choose to stay on the surface of TOURAI and not undertake rejuvenation. Their bodies are unable to sustain life without energy, and they melt back into the planet, and a new life is born. I’ve never seen this for myself. I wonder what it feels like..

So, if we are all made from the same singular substance, where do I end, and others begin? How am I thinking, and speaking? Do you think about it too?

Humans only have one cycle, and then they no longer exist. Does that mean that one day San, and my “superior”, Lana, will not exist?

That thought.. I do not like it.
